Baby Joanna and Baby Mateo // Salt Lake City Documentary Newborn Photography

If there's one thing I've learned from watching Coco 157 times with my one-year-old it's that "nothing is more important than family."

That's why my heart was completely full when I flew out to Salt Lake City this summer to meet my brother's new baby girl and my brother-in-law's new baby boy. Both of them have very energetic 2-year-olds that are hard to keep in one spot for long. Documentary in-home sessions are so special because you get to always remember the home you brought your children into, and you can also take time to get a wide variety of shots- from your toddler crashing himself repeatedly into a laundry basket for no reason to the sweet smiles that come when Dad throws you on his back for a ride down the hallway.

I love all of these people with my whole heart. Cue "Remember Me" from Coco.

Carolyn and Joey's Fort Wayne Wedding

I've known this bride since high school, and I couldn't have been more excited to photograph her marriage to the love of her life last May. She's been through a lot in her life, and I was a little emotional when I got to meet Joey and see in person how much he loves her. He understands the level of cool Carolyn is on (a super high level).

Six months before the wedding Carolyn let me in on the secret that she was pregnant! She was overjoyed and said, "We are gonna have the cutest pictures! I'm gonna be so chubby". They had already named their future baby boy Asher and having him there while his parents got married was pretty magical. I loved taking pictures of the bridesmaids with Harry Potter books, witnessing the wedding party enter the reception to the Game of Thrones theme, the amazing dragon egg Game of Thrones cake, and the sweet moment when Carolyn was dancing with her father during the classic father-daughter dance and Joey brought Carolyn's daughter Sophie onto the floor.
