Anna and Trevor // Rainy Fall Charleston, WV Wedding

Anna and Trevor have known each other since middle school and have some pretty amazing throwback pics at Trevor's senior prom. Besides the incredible fall bouquet and Anna's beautiful dress, my favorite part about this wedding day was the cheerful attitude of the couple despite numerous things not going as planned. 

We originally had an hour set apart to take photos in downtown Charleston with their wedding party, but it ended up pouring freezing rain the ENTIRE day- not letting up for a second. We compromised and took some shots outside the hotel under a dry overhang. The outdoor ceremony was moved indoors, things ran behind, and the trolley that was transporting the bride and groom and huge wedding party broke down on the way from the ceremony to the reception! Any one of those things could lead a bride to be overwhelmed with the stress, but Anna and Trevor were just so happy to finally be married and were down to make things work as long as they could be together. 

I think this is a great example of why it's nice to plan a first look with your partner ahead of time- you never know what mishaps are going to push your schedule behind! I also think we got some beautiful portraits of the couple despite the weather (I mean... this couple is completely gorgeous in any setting). Rain on your wedding day is 100% good luck. (And if you're planning a wedding in West Virginia, there's a good chance you'll get some of that luck.)

Carly Sadolf // Fun in New York City and Brooklyn

10 years ago, my mom forced me to audition for a local production of Grease: The Musical. I ended up being cast as Schoolgirl No. 4 and totally loving it. (Thanks, mom!) In one of our many rehearsals, I met Carly Sadolf. She tapped on my shoulder to ask if my hair was naturally curly. I said it was naturally frizzy. We've been facebook-official sisters ever since.

She's spent most of our friendship living in NYC, pursuing her acting career. Every time I come up to visit, she's grown in new ways and made friends with all kinds of amazing people. Lately she's been producing incredible feature films, and as I stayed with her this last week I was struck- as I am each time I am around Carly- by how she affects the people around her. Everyone that talks to Carly, whether it's a salesman at a flea market or an old friend from college, falls under her charm and can feel the love she has for New York City and all of the interesting, weird people living in it.

I'm so thankful to Carly for letting me crash in her cute Brooklyn apartment, for making me laugh until I cried, for ordering the best take-out Brooklyn has to offer, and for letting me follow her around with my camera. Love you sis!

Moyer Family

These friends are more like family. The kind of friends that you can have dinner and play games with but that would also drop everything to help you if needed, big or little. Hannah has been such a great friend and example to me as a mom, and her son Indiana is the coolest little dude I've ever seen. Curly-haired, gap-toothed, sugar-lovin' sassy boy.

I love this family's style, and I had a great time on Center Street in Provo, Utah during this mini-session.
